The Professional Staff.

My background is somewhat eclectic – Canadian by birth, I was educated in the United States (BA – Yeshiva University, MA and Rabbinic Ordination – the Jewish Theological Seminary of America) and Israel (MA – the Hebrew University of Jerusalem). Education has always played a very special role in my life (my MA is in Jewish education from JTS). I am of the opinion that not only the education of our children is important, but the education and imparting of Jewish knowledge to our adult population is important as well. I have always believed that education is primal in knowing who we are as Jews and in creating a learned Jewish laity. Hence, as a priority, I have always been involved in Jewish education, both formally and informally, in whichever setting I have participated, from our youngsters to our seniors.

I believe the 21st century Conservative synagogue has not only to provide the traditional functions of the synagogue (religious services, education, social, pastoral, etc.) but must be creative as well, without compromising its fundamental responsibilities. Here at Temple Beth Tikvah, we are a “full-service synagogue,” with a variety of adult education classes in which we collaborate with four other local synagogues by assembling an outstanding team of professionals with whom I am privileged to work. We have minyan every Monday – Friday at 8:30 A.M. and Monday-Thursday at 5:00 P.M. as well as our weekly Shabbat services and our Jewish holidays. Together, as a congregational family, we are optimistic about the future of Conservative Judaism in this part of southeast Florida.
